Tip of the Day: There ain't no such thing as a bloodless revolution

Today, I yield the floor to Brother (in arms) Malcom. The entire speech can be found on Marxists.org's Malcom X Reference Archive:

"Look at the American Revolution, in 1776. That revolution was for what? For land. Why did they want land? Independence. How was it carried out? Bloodshed. Number one, it was based on land, the basis of independence, and the only way they could get it, was bloodshed. The French Revolution, what was it based on — the landless against the landlord. What was it for? Land! How did they get it? Bloodshed! There was no love lost, was no compromise, was no negotiation. I'm telling you you don't know what a revolution is, because when you find out you'll get back in the alley, you'll get out of the way. The Russian Revolution. What was it based on? Land — the landless against the landlord. How did they bring it about? Bloodshed. You haven't got a revolution that doesn't involve bloodshed, and you're afraid to bleed. [Commotion] I said you are afraid to bleed. As long as the white man sent you to Korea, you bled. He sent you to Germany, you bled. He sent you to the South Pacific to fight the Japanese, you bled. You bleed for white people, but when it comes time to seeing your own churches being bombed, and little black girls [Speak on!] murdered, you haven't got no blood."

Allah hu akbar! I think we all should listen to recordings of Malcom X to receive inspiration and education. More speeches can be found on World Revolution Media

The Armorer's Report: Why I Love The SKS!!!

The original SKS carbine was developed in 1945 by Sergei Gavrilovich Siminov, a Russian who was looking to update his beloved motherland’s arsenal. Up until that point, Russia had been using the Mosin-Nagant series of rifles and carbines (stretching back to 1891) which fired the powerful, yet heavily recoiling and heavy to carry 7.62X54Rmm round which, when paired with the Mosin, had an effective range of 2,000 meters. After WW2, many countries realized that most firefights/battles occurred at ranges no further than 100 meters-300 meters, which made carrying such a heavy firearm/cartridge obsolete. The SKS carbine was designed around this new concept of warfare and also around a newly developed cartridge, the 7.62X39mm M43. This cartridge was aptly named an "intermediate range cartridge" and was intended to be able to engage targets within the 300 meter mark while also allowing the soldier to carry a sufficient payload. The 7.62X39mm cartridge is still popular to this day and is known the world over for providing good penetration and stopping power within 300 yards.

Since being adopted in 1949, (the same year as the AK-47) the SKS carbine saw major combat both in the hands of the Koreans during the Korean War, and by the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. Also during this period (i.e. the Cold War), Russia decided to share the design and manufacturing details of the SKS with their communist allies which is why there are so many different versions of the SKS available today. The most popular SKS versions here in the U.S. would have to be both the Chinese and the Yugoslavian. Both versions can fetch between $100-$200 depending on quality. Each country also has their own interesting and unique features incorporated into the design of the original SKS. The Yugoslavian version has flip up night sights and a NATO spec grenade launcher attached to the muzzle. The Chinese version features a chrome lined barrel and a spike type bayonet.

But enough about the history of this weapon. This is why I like the SKS carbine and why I find it a more than suitable weapon for almost all guerrilla type applications.

First off the SKS is cheap. Coming in at the $100-$250 range, it is the best all around bet for your money. The SKS has a lot going for it when you compare it to other firearms at the same (if not twice) the price range. The price of the SKS alone is enough to persuade me that it is a good idea to outfit an entire militia with this weapon. The second thing I like about the SKS is that it is reliable. It is easily on par, if not beyond what the AK-47 boasts in reliability. Enough said. I also like the fact that it is a sure bet in cold weather climates (being designed in Russia, I’m sure the developers had this in mind), unlike some other carbines which can be affected by the cold. Another reason why I like the SKS carbine is that it is also accurate, more so than the AK-47 (at least a little). Your average SKS will shoot 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards which is pretty good for such a cheap weapon. I have read reports of the SKS being able to engage 14 inch diameter steel plates at 300 meters with iron sights, which is more than acceptable battlefield accuracy (you’d be hard pressed to do this with an AK-47). Another thing that I like about the SKS is that it is rugged. It is a hulking beast. You don’t have to worry about dropping this firearm in the mud or diving around on patrols with this gun, unlike you would if you were patrolling around with your precious $800 M-16.

There are however, some down sides to the SKS carbine (if it can even be considered a carbine). First of all it can be quite heavy and cumbersome (especially the Yugoslavian version) to carry around all day, although the weight can be helpful in absorbing some of the recoil of the 7.62X39mm round and with your subsequent follow-up shots. Another downside to the SKS series of carbines are the archaic sights which can be hard to manipulate with bad eyesight and/or low light conditions. I must admit it can sometimes be hard to come up and stay on target with the heavy SKS and the less than ideal sights. This however, can be remedied by ordering a rear peep sight, which is both cheap and easy to install and makes a world of difference when shooting your SKS. I would recommend this site as a good place to look, although there are plenty of other sites on the internet to acquire a good rear aperture sight for your SKS. Just Google 'rear peep sight SKS' and you should get a bunch of options. Another trick that doesn’t require any monetary investment (if you have a sister) is to apply a tiny bit of bright nail polish on the front sight, just to make it stand out more against that tiny notched rear sight. Another downside to the SKS is that it has a small magazine capacity (it can only hold ten rounds) but stripper clips can make reloading much faster and easier. You can also get 30 round magazines for the SKS, but I have heard conflicting reports on the reliability of these (although the one in our arsenal has never malfunctioned once!)

All in all, the SKS carbine is probably your best bet for cheaply outfitting a militia with a rugged and accurate firearm. The fact that it is as reliable and more accurate than an AK-47, but costs half as much, doesn’t hurt either. Another good thing about the SKS is that here in America, if you hold a C&R (Editior's note: Curio and Relic is a special gun permit that applies to certain firearms that have some historical/novelty value associated with them and more than 30 years old and allow the guns to be mailed to your home) permit, you can have SKSs delivered to your front door with no FFL transfer. Sweet!

Stay Tuned for More Revolution

Things in the real world are pretty crazy right now so I haven't been able to post any thing for a while now and won't be able to for another little bit. A new armorer's report will be posted soon when Saheim Al-Azad takes a look at an old favorite, the SKS. We met recently and he gave me a tour of our new armory and everything looked in good order. We went on patrol and sighted in my new scope for my Marlin 925 in .22 WMR. Now I will be able to hunt small game and varmit, a vital skill for any guerrilla to develop. Thats about all that's new, so stay tuned. Note: This was posted by The Red Son not Saheim, just a glitch there.

Lessons from the Taxi Liberation Movement

A militant labor organization called the Mouvement de libération du taxi (Taxi Liberation Movement or MLT) helped, along with other fringe elements of the Québec sovereignty movement to stage a series spectacular actions the night of October 30th, 1968:
"In a huge, carefully timed move, very much like an urban guerrilla operation, about a thousand taxi drivers, students and FLP (Front de libération populaire or Popular Liberation Front) and CIS (Comité indépendance-socialisme or Committee for independence and Socialism) activists blocked the approach to Dorval Airport and paralyzed traffic in several parts of the metropolitan area. Traveling in 250 taxis, the attackers struck at various strategic points, hurling Molotov cocktails and setting fire to buses and installations of the Murray Hill Company which had a monopoly of the taxi business from Montreal's main airport." From FLQ The Anatomy of an Underground Movement by Louis Fournier

At least two participants that night, Marc Carbonneau and Jacques Lanctôt would soon become active in the FLQ.

Tip of the Day from Stokely Carmichael

Today's tip comes from a speech that Black Panther Stokely Carmichael gave at McGill University in October of 1968:
“Get all the guns you can find. You will not be revolutionaries until you are ready to take up arms and kill to defend your brothers.”
This was undoubtedly a call to arms in support of Québécois sovereignty and the FLQ, members of which Carmichael had met with in Washington two years prior. Almost forty years later this statement has lost none of its relevance. An armed populace is the ultimate defense against tyranny and fascism.

Take up arms my comrades! Stockpile munitions!

Make your own Portable Revolution Kit

I got this free usable shopping bag in the mail and it folds up into this little wallet-sized bundle. So I decided to put together a little disaster/worst case scenario/portable revolution kit because just carry one knife with me everywhere wasn't enough.

Immediately inside is my self-defense knife and a bandanna to cover my face.

Inside are three throwing knives, a Swiss-Army knife, a plastic shank/shiv made out of a compostable plastic spoon, and a lighter.

Here it all is: implements of combat, including one that can go through metal detectors and a small set of tools.

New Feature: Downloads Section

I just started a new page to upload files such as PDFs etc. I am adding a side tab linking to it but you can also find it here.

Peter Young Speaks on Guerrilla Private Investigation Tactics

November 9th, 2007 Amherst, Mass - Convicted Animal Liberation Front member Peter Young spoke last Friday for the second time at Hampshire College as part of the Hampshire Animal Liberation Advocacy!'s conference "Smash the State, Crush the Cage". The conference had/has a lot of controversy surrounding it because of ALF's high profile status as a terrorist organization. In actuality everybody was very composed and well behaved. There was a cop of some sort sitting in the parking lot the entire evening, with his engine running, wasting our tax dollars and producing green house gasses. The topic was Guerrilla PI tactics and how to expose animal abuse. I was more interested in the application of these tactics for other kinds of clandestine activity. My account and summary of the lecture is intended for legal use only and you should consult a lawyer before using any of the tactics described herein. Even if you obtain the information that you are looking for legally, possessing and distributing information can be illegal in this day and age.

Young argued that any type of direct action group can learn a lot from unexpected places and learn from people with much less noble causes. He suggests private investigation, crime and psychology literature as good resources to learn how to gather intelligence. He says that this information could be used to find fur farms, vivisectors etc. or any other cause. Any piece of information that you want or need, there is a way to get it. The first resource that he gave are data bases called Business to Business or B2B directories. They are listings of business that only deal with other businesses. He recommends Reference USA and Selectory or visiting a reference library. Another technique for finding out the location of a particular facility or factory is simply trailing the delivery truck back from the store, lab, warehouse etc. to the original source. PIs say that besides public information, 75% of the information that they gather is acquired through dumpster diving and social engineering. Social engineering is way of manipulating people into giving you the information that you want. Young reminded the audience that the human element of security is always the weakest link. On this topic he recommendeds The Art of Deception by Kevin D Mitnick and William L Simon. Young also made the bold but intriguing claim that anything you would ever want to know, there is somebody who can tell you or they will throw it out.

Here is a quick and dirty on social engineering. Its all about gaining the person you call or email's trust and misrepresenting yourself. If you need a password or address or confirm that certain materials are at a location, simply call pretending to be the delivery driver and tell them you need the right address or you lost the packing slip etc. or that you are a new employee and need to know where they keep X item or items. Use insider lingo as a way to build trust and create social currency that can be spent on info. The cycle of social engineering goes like this: 1) Research background information and lingo so you will sound like you know what you are talking about and be more convincing. 2) Make the call and develop a mini-relationship with the person, dropping names of people in the departments, or say that you are someone hire up, dropping a name of the real person. 3) Create a pretext, a scenario explaining my you need this info. He recommended Influence: Science and Practice by Robert B Cialdini. Another tactic for getting people to tell them the truth is to ask them the question, wait for the answer and then stare at them silently until they tell you more. Young reminded the crowd that the most confident person controls any situation. He also argued that as high tech security becomes more and more pervasive and widespread, low tech infiltration techniques more effective, because security creates false trust and people let their guards down. See also Never be Lied to Again by David J. Lieberman.

Trade publications are good sources for insider info and they can often be obtained for free, see Ulrich's Periodical Directory, available at most reference libraries to get contact info and ask for free sample. Getting a job on the inside can be a great way to document what happens inside a lab, or steal other supplies that you need. To learn the lay out of a building, call pretending to be a donor or prospective investor, etc. and ask for a tour of the facilities or offices. This will give you a better idea of where something you wanted could be found. Young said that the high tech end of the spectrum would be a GPS bug, often used by PI to track a car or whatever. If you need to find the home address of an individual, just keep using online directories like Super Pages and Zabasearch until you find them.

Young said that agricultural survey maps, found at university libraries can help you find where mink, beef, corn or anything else is grown/raised. Also Google Maps/Earth, Map Quest, Terraserver etc. can provide detailed aerial images that can be used to locate fur farms or other facilities. It allows you to see over walls effectually so you can also use it to case somewhere, gathering valuable reconnaissance. Private investigators often just go into the building during the day if they need to access it, but this is a legal gray area. For info that could be used to gain access to secure areas see No ticket? No Problem?

He concluded by provide a list of resources:

Tip of the Day: Spread Disinformation

Any decent guerrilla organization should have an intelligence network and if possible a division devoted to intelligence. One of their functions should be to create and disseminate disinformation though double agents, communiqués etc. Disinformation can be anything designed to make the recipients think that something false is in fact true. This can be very useful for creating fear and confusion in the ranks of the military and police. If they think you have certain plans or that you are going to be at a certain location at a certain time, you can use this opportunity to set an ambush, evade their patrols, etc.

Gun of the Day: the Star Z-84

This fine weapon was mentioned in my research today as being used by the Metropolitian Guard of Uruguay during the late-1960s and early 1970s. The account of a Tupamaro guerrilla, who mentions a cop carrying a "Star machine gun," and based on available information, I think they were talking about the Spanish Star Z-84. Notice the sweet top-folding stock!

Caliber: 9x19mm Luger/Para
Weight: 3.0 kg (6.6 lbs) without magazine
Lenght (stock closed/open): 410 / 615 mm (16 / 24 in.)
Barrel lenght: 215 mm (8.5 in.)
Rate of fire: 600 rounds per minute (an AK shoots at 300 rounds per minutes)
Magazine capacity: 25 or 30 rounds
Effective range: 150-200 meters (160-220 yards)

This was an older post that I fixed the image link and edited/expanded upon.

Happy 100 Posts!!!!

Yay! This is actual post #101. I started this blog on a whim this past spring, more as a means of procrastination than anything else. Now it is a major part of my life. I wish to thank all of my readers, especially those who post comments. Also thanks to my comrade and Revolution Script contributer Saheim al-Azad for being part of the vanguard. I hope for a thousand more.

Animal Liberation Conference Part 1.5

So I took the five hour bus to Amherst from my hidden bunker for the HALA conference, Smash the State Crush the Cage. I will a write a full article in the next couple of days hopefully. I have been reading the reaction on the internets to Hampshire allowing "terrorists to plan" on their campus, specifically this jerk and the people who comment on his blog. I find it rather amusing that people are getting so worked up about this shit. The event was rather tame compared to what some predicted.

I guess that I should make this clear. I am not a animal rights activist or even a vegetarian. I am not a member of ALF or ELF or any similar organization. I went to the conference because the Animal Liberation struggle is one of anti-capitalism and I wanted to show my solidarity. Additionally I believe that I can learn from their successes and failure, you will see what I mean by this in my full post on the topic. I went for the Liberation not the Animals.

Urban Guerrilla Tactics: Armed Propaganda

From the votes that I have gotten so far on the survey (if you haven't already voted, please do so) it seems that people are yearning from more information on tactics and strategy. So here you go:

In any type of insurgency, part of the strategic goals should be to delegitimize the state in the eyes of the people. This makes their job that much harder and your much so much easier. This will go a long way to demoralizing the armed forces, making enemy soldiers prone to surrender or desertion. One tactic that can be employed in urban insurgencies to this end is sometimes referred to as "armed propaganda." Basically this entails any armed action that demonstrates the government's weakness and lack of control and the relative power and amount of control of the guerrilla group.
The best example of this that I can think of would be the occupation of the city of Pando by the Tupamaros of Uruguay in 1969. Multiple commando units entered the city in a funeral procession, with their arms hidden in the hearse as to avoid detection. They went into action at a preordained time and occupied the city hall, phone exchange (as to prevent anyone from calling for help), the police station, and the fire station. They only fired one shot, injuring a cop who then gave up. They occupied the town for ten minutes, issuing propaganda etc. and then extracted back to Montevideo. Many were captured outside the city and beaten by cops. However, the action was still wildly successful, rallying popular support for the Tupamaros and embarrassing the dictatorship in the eyes of the people who were supposed to fear it. This tactic was so effective that it was emulated by an Argentine urban guerrilla group the following year. It all goes back to the idea that the urban guerrilla can never hope to achieve a purely military victory, rather they must use acts of violence and militancy to achieve a political victory. I will most likely post on the occupation of Pando again, as it is an interesting case study and the Tupamaros an important and influential historical insurgency. I think that I actually have a complete account of the occupation that I'll have to dig out.

The Armorer's Report: Firearm Maintenance

Keeping your firearm clean on the battlefield is an essential and life-saving practice that should be carried out frequently. I would suggest cleaning one's firearm every 500-1,000 rounds, depending on the type of long arm and type of ammo being shot. Obviously, extreme care should be taken when shooting corrosive ammo. YOU SHOULD IMMEDIATELY CLEAN THE BORE AND BOLT/FACE OF YOUR FIREARM AFTER SHOOTING CORROSIVE AMMO. I learned this the hard way after shooting corrosive ammo through my non-chrome lined Yugo. I neglected to clean the bore for about 3-4 days and when I disassembled and peered into the bore it looked like a dirty sewer pipe. Luckly I was able to scrub it to pretty much good as new with a bore brush and lots of clean rags, but this stuff will eat away at all metal components it comes into contact with.

The right kind of solvent and oil is key when it comes to proper maintenance of your firearm. Gun solvents are used to cut through burnt powder fouling and residue left over in the bore and in the action after firing your weapon. Gun oil is used to lubricate all moving parts and keep rust from setting in. I like Hoppes brand solvent and oil which is a classic here in America. If you do not have access to brand name solvents and oils, there are a few things that I have heard of that will suffice in a pinch. Kerosene can be used as a substitute for solvents to clean out powder fouling/residue. If your shooting corrosive ammo and don't have access to solvents you can use boiling water with soap to clean out your rifle, or Windex or any ammonia based glass cleaner to cut through the corrosive salts. WD-40 is always a good standby, but I wouldn't rely on it as a good lubrication substitution because it is water based. Automatic Tranmision Fluid can be used for lubrication instead. I have also heard that good, clean motor oil works well as a gun oil. Most people swear by Mobil 1 Synthetic and for around $5 a quart, that is a lot of good, cheap gun oil that is gonna last you a long time. Still if you don't have access to these things, bacon grease or some other kind of animal grease can be used to lubricate your long arm, although I'd imagine it might get a bit dirty.

Proper knowledge of the disassembly/reassembly of your firearm is crucial. Most militaries make their soldiers learn how to do this this while blindfolded so it can be done in the dark, if needed. After your firearm is disassembled start with the bore. Run a clean rag soaked with solvent through first. You don't want to start with a bore brush because it will grind the fouling in. Always run your bore brush and rod from breech to muzzle, as going the other way brings fouling and grime back into your action. After running the solvent soaked rag through then go to the bore brush and use as necessary. I then usually swipe another clean solvent soaked rag through just to mop up after the bore brush. I then switch to a rag soaked in oil which I run through the bore until it comes out looking clean. Some people leave a thin sheen of oil on the inside of the barrel but this can affect accuracy. It is up to the shooter. After cleaning the bore, I use a solvent rag in the action and in the magazine to clean up any excess powder. I then switch to a lubricated rag and wipe down all metal parts and the outside of the receiver and then I am done. Reassemble firearm and go. Have fun!

In response to Finnish School Shooter, Pekka-Eric Auvinen AKA Naturalselector89, Sturmgeist89

Before you started firing today, with your pussy .22 Sig at your schoolmates, teachers and administrators, you reportedly (or maybe not, the Columbine killers we reported to have asked a girl if she believed in God and then shot her when she said yes, but that later was discovered to be untrue) shouted "This is the start of the revolution!"

No its wasn't.

The start of the revolution will not look like that. You have soiled the name of revolution. Oh yah, killing those eight people was stupid too. I saw your YouTube videos reposted after being removed. You think because you can shoot an apple at less than 10 feet that you are some brave soldier for the "social Darwinist" revolution like "Reb and Vodka"? At least they had multiple, non-pussy guns and attempted to use explosives. Pathetic.
-The Red Son

To all my readers,
I just felt I needed to respond to this horrible event. I am not trying to defend the actions of Pekka-Eric Auvinen, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold or school shooters in general, but rather the opposite, condemn them and their sense of grandeur. Also if I apologize for this off-topic post, but if I defend some violence, I must condemn other violence.

Animal Liberation Conference

Some students at Hampshire College are hosting a conference on the animal liberation movement. If you remember, I had posted about a lecture by former ALF "terrorist" Peter Young. The same group that hosted him before, Hampshire Animal Liberation Advocacy is putting on this conference. He will be facilitating a workshop about guerrilla tactics for conducting investigations on animal testing facilities etc. It would be interesting. I may not be able to make it but if you can go, you should go. For more info see the website. Here is the description they give:

Smash the State Crush the Cage
November 9th-11th

A conference aiming to fortify and empower the animal liberation movement called Smash the State, Crush the Cage. The focus of the conference is on practical ways of ending animal testing on and outside college campuses. We believe that it's crucial for people who recognize the systemic injustices being committed against animals, human and non-human alike, to share skills and strategies in order to effectively combat this injustice.

Also see their disclaimer:
The student group HALA does not advocate ALF style tactics. This conference is not a place for such actions. We do not invite self-identified members of the ALF.

And their info on security at the conference, which seem to be good rules in general:

Security Standards

While the goal of a conference is to exchange ideas, we have to be realistic about the political climate in which we find ourselves. The Green Scare, the FBI's private war on those who seek to defend innocent animals and the ecological systems upon which all life depends, ensures that any such gathering as SMASH THE STATE, CRUSH THE CAGE will be subject to infiltration and surveillance. In order to make the conference a safer space, we ask that all attendees subscribe to the following security guildlines:

If you have broken the law, there is almost no reason to talk about it. Bragging will make you feel good in the moment, but it could land you in prison for years.

There is no reason to ask anyone else about times he or she may have broken the law.

Never talk about an illegal action over the phone, the internet, inside a building that could be bugged or near a group of other people. If you you don't want to be overheard, take the battery out of your cellphone.

Do not take or plan illegal actions during the period of the conference.

Do not attempt to buy drugs while on Hampshire campus.

Don’t talk to cops or feds EVER!

If someone is not observing good security culture, call him or her out on it.

Understand that there are infiltrators in our midst. Their presence requires that we be cautious, not that we in any way compromise our aims. They are here because what we do is effective.

Lessons from Pakistan

I saw this picture on the cover of the New York Times on Friday. I clipped the picture and put in on the top of my laptop. The gentleman is holding an SKS, a gun that I own, except that mine is Chinese rifle and I have a 30 round magazine. This give me hope. If the SKS is good enough for Pakistani insurgents battling the Pakistani army, it is sure as hell good enough for me.

No Revolution for China!

Repeat visitors will notice a new feature on the site, a the red banner on the top right of the page that tells you that The Revolution has been banned in China. I mentioned this a few posts back. I learned about this from The Great Firewall of China. This is why I don't get people who support and defend modern day PRC and call themselves Marxists/Socialists/Communists. How can a communists country have soo much capitalism and exploitation of workers? Censorship is to be expected but why would you censor Marxists.org, this site and other pro-revolutionary websites if you were in fact a worker's state?

Tip of the Day/Lessons from the Polish Resistance

Paralyze transportation and you slow the cogs of the war machine, of Empire, of global capitalism, etc. The picture above is from World War Two when the Polish Secret State (loosely associated groups of partisans) bombed a train. Imagine how long it must have taken to clear and repair the tracks, and what a hassle for the Nazis to not be able to move troops, munitions and supplies quickly through that area of Poland. The FLQ also bombed railroad tracks on multiple occasions, although with much less spectacular results than depicted above.
