Body Armor on the Cheap

The lack of resources, financial and otherwise is one of the defining characteristics of the guerrilla; many of the differences in tactics and strategy between guerrilla and conventional warfare are due to the gap in resources. For example, most conventional armies outfit their soldiers with some level of body armor, often soft armor (kevlar vests) combined with trauma plates to provide protection from rifle fire. But some recent tests by Wired magazine reveal that even low-end soft armor vests provide extraordinary protection. The $350 vest that they tested provided BETTER protection than the $4,500 vest that underwent the same punishment. Just a reminder that expensive gear isn't always the best gear.

They got some nice stuff. If you can't afford ceramic trauma plates you can always go steel.

Nothing is too expensive when it comes to protecting your well being. (Well, maybe a $4500 vest is...)
